one of my friends recently told me that algae eaters enjoy cucumber she says to just cut a thin slice leaving the seeds in then weight it down but another one of my friends says that you should take out the seeds then do exactly the same as before.
who is right and why?

Yes! You can feed some algae eaters cucumbers, courgettes, peas, lettuce and some other veggies. I say "some", because your fish might just not like veggies, but most do. I do not take out the seeds and have never had a problem. I prefer to feed courgette, lettuce and peas because they take considerably longer than cucumbers to disintegrate.

Personally I cut the seeds out, otherwise they might just end up in the tank or clogging the filter. My BN plec and Amano shrimp love cucumber

I leave the seeds in as the midle part with seeds is the favourite with all my fish -plecs, livebearers, even goldfish eat it first. They will only eat the skin part when the middle is gone. After a few hours my cucumber looks like a doughnut!

i can think of no occasion, apart from situations like that of, zoddydod. (small mouths, i guess) when the seeds are not eaten first! even my RTBS loves cucumber. i can't, for the life of me, think of a need to remove them.

I would just keep them in.

On another note... How can your tank hold all those fish?!?!?

My Aquariums & Fish:
Fluval Edge 23L - 1 dwarf gourami, 4 neon tetras, 6 black widows, 3 peppered corydoras, and 2 algae eaters (unknown species LFS labeled them assorted algae eaters one is black and spotty and the other is a golden colour)

^ that is a very good point! It shouldn't be able to.

seed in i am afraid to say
some fish love the the soft bit in the middle
and others just love to rasp on the other bit

I'm finding all the info about seeds being the fishes favourite part very new to me. When I first started using cucumenr I read that the fish left the seeds and they would just be left floating around the tank (never tested it myself). Will give a whole slice a go tonight.....will certainly make it easier to prepare!

following the 1 inch of fish to 1 litre of water rule LFS says this is the best way to keep them

Find a new shop, seriously. There is a guideline out there, it is no rule, as there are no rules to fishkeeping. The guideline goes like this;

One inch of slim bodied fish, that grows to no larger than three inches, per gallon of water.

This general guideline is a starting point for new aquarists, helps to keep them out of trouble with stocking.

interesting, where you get the info? I've never come across the comment before.

I leave the seeds in but then there generally aren't many seeds in.

I prefer to give my pleco melon as the other fish can't eat it; otherwise I have to hide the courgette so he can get.

most plecos love all fruit, that we may feed.
