Yesterday I noticed my betta acting funny. He would go to the bottom and rest his tail on the bottom. He would turn his fin so it would be flat on the gravel. Otherwise he seems fine. He ate readily when I fed him and he seems to be swimming ok. He is just going to the bottom alot and turning his body funny so he can "rest" his tail on the bottom.

Thanks,
Karl

Mines doing the same. Have a look at my original post about Jaffa. Although he's geting better he's still doing that.

Well, he's not getting any better yet, but he's not getting worse either. I am assuming it's a swim bladder problem. I drained his 5G tank to about half so he has less far to swim to get to the surface. I tried not feeding him for a few days as I saw suggested on the Internet, but that didn't help. I've now tried Melafix and still nothing. I will try to get a stronger antibacterial med and try that next.

What do you feed your fish.
Try some peas.

Swim bladder.
Fish can look bloated.
unable to maintain balance in the water.
Resting on the bottom, finding it hard to get off the bottom of the tank and top.
Tail can look like its weighing the fish down.
Headstanding.

what sort of filter do you have? ive seen what you have descibed happen to males in pets store that use under gravel filters, the betta just investigates something in the gravel and the tail and anal find get gentle sucked against the gravel

Tetra Bettamin. I'll try a pea.

It's a corner box filter.
