It would probably help to take some other pictures of the betta, maybe when he's flaring to better see his finnage.

Neo, Wuv explained it well I think.

If the ends of his tail end in more than one point it's a CT.
If the ends come to only one point it's a Combtail.

Look at the pics Jac put up. You can see how the CT has many points and combtail does not.
