I have recently bought some synodontis multipunctatus from a wholesaler in the czech Republic. I am aware that these may be crossbred examples.
Is there anyway I can confirm this when they are youngsters ie colouration spots etc.
Some are identical to what i would expect to look like others are much darker in colouration.
I have been told that crossbreds have spots or speckles on their tail fins whereas pure bred do not - is this true? (some of mine have others don't)

All my multi's are purebred and none have 'freckles' or spots on their fins or tails, so that may be true. Some are naturally darker than others, but not by an enormour amount. Look at body shape and the configuration of their barbels.
If you are half expecting some to be cross-breeds does it bother you that much? I have a few cross bred syno's (not multi's)and still adore them. I wasn't planning on making money off them any time so I don't really care.

No doesn't bother me in the slightest
Just seems that in the batch that I got some look like true multis (as i imagine they look) whilst others look different.
My only concern is what size they will grow out to and I guess i will only know that with time
