I thought there was a tounge in the first video maybe... But the second one not really... It "could" be a tongue but highly unlikely

Very possible he won't since we live on the other side of the country! If it is a semi local species, even invasive but more for that climate who knows? Im eager to see if he knows, because hes been doing bug stuff since elementary school haha

The idea that that "body" is just a tongue makes no sense really. What tongue has a dark beetle like head like that, what creature would be large enough to have a tongue that size, but live in an underground hole only large enough for the tongue to escape....

Yep....and he has lots of aquariums in one section of the Biology building...I don't think it's a tongue, either, for the record

Maybe it's a rare, subterranean chameleon, and all we're seeing is its tongue.

But I don't think so. Among other problems, targeting would be a bummer with the eyes staying underground...
