We had another heat spike in our hot little apartment and I lost some more fish. But this time the casaulties were much closer to my heart. :-(

I lost one of my sweet Head and Tail Light tetras, my dear African Dwarf Frog, my tiny baby Clown Plec, and worst of all...one of my beloved Cory cats! :-( :byebye:

I need to do something, but I just don't have the money to buy an air conditioner for this room. I just can't keep losing fish every time I go away for a day. :-(

:rip: my little friends. :byebye:

Put some ice cubes in a plastic bag and float it in the tank, that will keep the temperature down.

Sorry about you're losses, you're having a rough time with fishies lately. :(

Yeah, I've got bagged ice cubes floating in them now. I don't want to lose anymore of my little buddies. :-(

I am having horrible luck lately. Wanna know something else? My 10 gallon with the Head and Tail Lights has a bad case of ich. *sighs* Sometimes I just wanna give up. :-(

Thanks a lot guys.

Just an update, the bagged ice is working wonders. I've got 4 out of six tanks back to normal, and the other two are coming down slowly but surely. :) Definitely a relief for me.

Also something that will help if you get more air running acros the surface the increased evaporation will aid in cooling the tanks down.

Unfortunately I really don't have much here to use to increase surface agitation. I have all of my external filters running at their highest, and I have the undergravel filters working their butts off, but I don't have anything else.

The good thing, is that all tanks are FINALLY back to normal, so hopefully no more deaths for today.

You have air pumps right? if so gang valves and airstones , leave tank lights off,

Tank lights have been off all day and are staying that way till this room gets the nice cool night breeze in it. I've got three air pumps, but I don't have any extra airstones. I used them yesterday while cleaning the undergravel filters. :/

But like I said, all is good now. I'm going to keep a nice close watch on the tanks though, just in case.

Just an ordinary desk fan blowing across the surface of the water will work wonders.

Evaporation reduces temperature.

Gosh that is so sad :-(

Can you maybe find a used AC???

Maybe if you save like $10/week you could get one in a month or so :dunno:

Yea, i agree with Silver. If you can, get an Air Conditioning unit..... it would save you time (filling up back of ice) and would keep the water more consitently stable.

AC All the way, but if what your doing is working ok and your not getting annoyed with continuous trips to the freezer - apply the -if it aint broke, dont fix it method
;)

I am going to be getting an AC unit. One of those small ones that fit into the window. I just havn't seen any used ones yet, and the new ones are pretty expansive. But believe me, I'm saving up. ;)
