My enthusiasm for a fish tank started out a bit strange. First, I had no intentions of getting any fish tanks but as fate would have it I ended up so far w/2 tanks. I live in Florida and I am home schooling my 13 yr old grandson. A couple of months ago my husband found a baby turtle in the yard. Needless to say we kept it and bought another one for company. My house is now home to a puppy, 2 turtles, about 30 feeder fish, and 2 apple snails. The feeder fish are in a 10 gallon tank all by themselves. A 20 gallon tank houses the 2 turtles and the 2 apple snails. This project was a gift to my grandson for doing so well in school. I am a Florida woman thru and thru and you know that means lots of time spent at the beach. I am hooked on these tanks but I have a problem!! The 2 apple snails I got a week or two ago and already have a clutch of eggs laid 2 days ago. I got up this morning and the 2 snails are locked together doing the deed AGAIN!!! HELP.... Anywho ask questions if I did not properly introduce myself or tell enough about myself.

Welcome to the forum.

Apple snail (or mystery snail) populations are easy to control, they will always lay the clutch of eggs OUTSIDE of the water, usually on a tank lid or hood...just scrape off the clutch, and dispose of it...they are easy to spot, usually a pinkish blob stuck to the lid or hood
