as u can see, Ive got babies! Only two confirmed, but I can tell my silver colored platty is most def preggo right now.

You are definitively well enough planted by now. Normally we look at having about 75% of the substrate covered to be able to have a silent cycle.

I actually liked the way you had the piece of wood in the first picture, mayb it was a bit to centrish but you could have moved it a little bit. If you cover it with anubias, java fern or the moss you have, it will look awesome.

How is the baby coming along? Getting any sleep at night?

well that first picture feels like ages ago now, as i have so many more plants, id have to do some major rescaping to get back to that, it does look nice all simple tho. Maybe Ill throw that in my 10gallon and try it out.

as for the baby, Shes doing great. My wife is wonderful and handles most of the night time issues, (since she has to feed her) but we are getting a decent amount of sleep! im sure we both could use more tho!

well i did some rescaping as im learning more about my plants. they all needed major trimming.

moved all the plattys to a new tank and got a new piece of wood in there. still having great growth with no ferts or CO2.

my tank is filling in nicely, but the maintenance is becoming harder, i can see the light isnt getting to the bottom of some of the plants in the corners. but anyhoo, got things set up like this now.

i added moss on slate, and i tied some moss down to a small little planter to make a small cave. i just want to see if itll fill in. also added some moss to the tips of my wood.

added 2 Rams.

Yeah no ferts, nothing special for substrate. Just cheap play sand. I just have the right amount of light for the right amount of time apparently! I got lucky!

Interesting to see if you can maintain the system as is long term. It's only been up for not even two months. It takes a while for plants to use up stored food reserves. Just letting you know. What's the photoperiod and maintenance now?

Liz

PS: Always liked rams, yours look great.

I find this interesting. I am currently growing stem plants in a tank with no filter, no ferts, no special substrates and they are growing better than the ones in my fertilised, co2 tank lol. Really nice photos of a really nice tank, well done

Was this on ebay won for £44? if so, you're a git, i put in £40 and forgot to recheck it :)

nah this wasnt that one on ebay :) right now my photoperiod is 8 hours, and i do maintenance weekly WC of like 40% and am constantly messing with the plants and trimming and removing dead leaves and stuff. i hope that all my growth isnt short lived, i cant imagine every one of my plants has been storing up all this energy and will start looking worse any time soon! i wouldnt mind a little slower growth tho i guess! :D
