thanks for the kind words everyone, hopefully i can keep these plants going and they will thrive in the new tank.
 
I missed this one too! Love the plants, and the sand is awesome! I am thinking of going black substrate in mine. Just a word of warning, watch you Rainbow Cichlids... They have an appetite for plants. I had to put mine in another tank of mine and they have nailed most of the Vallis and the swords... :crazy:

took this pic about a week ago. few things have changed.


oh, the unipac black sand is so grey, pretty much wasted my Moon sand. but ill be adding more and adding it over the top i think, since i do prefer the black.


had to pull out a few plants so the Rainbows wouldnt completely destroy them. the moss on the wood died for no apparent reason in a 2 day time span.
 
this tank has slowly become less planted, as my cichlids refuse to leave anything i put in, alone. Ive moved things around, but plan on doing a major overhaul soon. reverting back to normal sand, and adding more hardy plants back in, i want to do more hardscaping with some great slate Ive got now too.
