Crawfish/crayfish questions

Freshwater crayfish are nocturnal predators/ scavengers and regularly catch fish at night when the fish are asleep.
so what if my fish are still alert and not weak? I remember I accidentally tapped the glass when a few of my fish were sleeping not very hard I was just organizing my stand shelf, and accidentally got up and bumped the glass and they all freaked out

Think about it...you're in a big glass box full of water and something bangs on the walls.
It'd be like being inside the big bass drum.

On the other hand, the sneaky, stealthy crayfish... ;)

Question so my crayfish tank his ammonia is pretty high, its in the darkish green not 8ppm but pretty close like maybe 4

now I know the best way is to WC but the issue here is my well water is muddy we called the well company but they might need to install a new well and it's 10K...

now would the muddy water be fine or no? I'm kind of really against it but if it's ok then I'll use it

I'd think about the state of the water your crayfish lived in, before you stuck it in an aquarium.
I'll guess it was relatively clear and not muddy and had a good flow to it.
You need zero ammonia, or you are simply burning the gills of your crayfish and not-so slowly killing it. :(

the state of the water had mud, clay, and a lot of rocks like a lot, and the water in the creek was cloudy when I had got down there, though it was very very still water like no flow to it at all. though we just had some rain so it might be flowing now, when I got him the water was eh I guess you could say it was livable in (Not sure I'd want to as a fish ...)

Yeah that's why I was asking if there was another way to remove it my water is pretty nasty, I guess I could use some of my tank water? would that help kill off ammonia? idk

could I change the water to remove the ammonia from it then change it again when my water is clear?

It would only dilute the ammonia.

Given that you have neither the skills nor resources to properly look after this animal, should you not return it to the creek it came from, before it dies?

actually it looks like missouri law states as long as the "Fish is not harmed" you can release it back after being caught but only if it's caught in the wild
