Hi everyone,

i recently bought an apple snail from my LFS, but sadly the snail's shell isnt' in the best shape ever. In face it has small cracks all over it and a big chip near the front (it looks pretty broken) - I was just wondering if there's anythign i can feed the snail that might hlep it re-strengthen its shell or make those cracks go away?

Thanks!

If the shell is not formed corectly due to mineral deficiency, that can be sorted out although the damage will leave permanent scars- however sometimes the shells don't form properly in the wrong PH too though regardless of diet.
If it is physical damage like from someone dropping the snail, i don't know if that can be sorted out much though.

If you scroll down the list of forums you will find a forum for invertebrates and the like. It has info pinned and if you follow a set of links (can't remember which one though) it will give you enough info on shell formation, corrosion, wear and tear and actual holes in the shells and how to treat them. Excellent info and I would recommend the read. Good Luck. Xanthe

I heard fish keepers glueing cracks so they don't drown.
