Crab food

I am new to this crab keeping business. I have three red claw crabs in my 50 gal planted tank. I am not sure what to feed them. I hve experimented with various things and have put food on the"shelf" that is out of the water. Do you keep the food on the bottom of the tank, or is it ok to keep it out of the water?? What exactly do you feed your crabs?? Appreciate any help or suggestions. Rainbow Lover

My crab gets Hikari stick things that i put on top of the filter for him because he loves sitting up there and that way none of the fish can get his food.

Thanks for your input. I, too, put stick things for them, think they are shrimp pellets. What kind of crabs do you have??

crabs can eat in or out of the water, they love mussels, fish, shrimp anything that was alive and moving around, actually if they are still alive and small enough they are considered food.
