Hey all,

I appear to have 2 small leaks on my system...

1st - V2 skim, where the return pipe fits onto the main unit, I keep having to wipe off dryed salt and its damp when I touch it.

2nd - Eheim canister filter, there is a large amount of salt on the floor behind the filter and down the back of the filter. Appers the leak is again coming from the return pipe where it joins onto the unit.

Both of the leaks are very minor where things join togeather, but I would like to but and end to it. Could I use some sort of glue, sealant, selacone to stop the joints leaking?

Many thanks,

Michael

The skimmer is likely to be made out of acrylic. Weldon 16 works best for this. You probably need to find someone who works with acrylic I am sure they would put a dab on there for you for smiles and grins.

The Eheim is likely to be plastic, any hobby shop (perhaps a warhammer shop...) should have plastic glue.

Yeah but they have different products in the UK, no IPS Weld-on there ;). You need an acrylic glue for the skimmer. If the leak is as small as youre saying, I'd focus on a thinner solvent as opposed to a thicker and let it run in there. For the canister filter, those are 99% of the time made out of a cheap low-energy plastic. If its just dripping you might want to try a silicone sealant and cross your fingers. If that doesnt work, you need something that works on polyethylene or polypropylene. Cyanoacrylate (superglue) MIGHT do the trick, but no guarantee.
