hi

not posted on here yet, i think.

anyway, looking for another tank (have a juwel 125 rio) with 2 small plecs, 1x clown loach, 4 tetras, 1x corydora, 1x knife fish. i also have (which i am thinking of moving because they are getting bigger and having a go at each other and the others) 1x duboisi and 1x marlieri chiclid. was thinking of getting a lido 120 as it will fit o nthe table (and both tanks are compact sized filter).
so, would it be a good idea to split these up?
or
get a 5ft tank
or go for another tank (i like the evasion series) but dont want the external filter for space and water leaking reasons.

advice?

thanks

I can't really advise but that knife fish will grow way to big for that tank, some other member may advise but I think it'll need a 5 foot tank.

Hi there,

tbh you have a right mishmas of fish

Duboisi are herbivores from lake tanginyika which should be kept in large groups/ colonies, They need a vegetarian diet and will die from malawi bloat if fed too many protein based foods

marlieri are carnivores from lake tanginyika and should be kept with similar tanginyika species. These will become predatory to small fish once they mature

depending on what knife fish you have, the max size can range from 8" (brown knife) 18" (Black ghost) 18" (banded) to 36" (clown) All will eat any fish that will fit in their mouths,

Clown Loach should always be kept in groups

Most small plecs grow, Common species hit between 12" - 18"

Also all of the species I have listed require a larger tank than 120L, so yes a 5ft tank would be your best option if you don't want to have to rehome them

Yes agree, the knife fish will defo get way too big and will need at least a 5ft tank. is it a black ghost knife fish?

Also the clown loach will get too big for the tank and they should really be kept in groups of 4 or more so you ideally would need to put them in a 5ft tank.

What species of plec have you got?

Andy

i think its a black ghost knife fish

To be honest m8, any knife fish is to big for the tank you have and the other fish as davo says are not suitable togther or need larger tanks aswell... you would be better off researching the fish you already have and finding there precise needs and tanks size.... the 5 foot tank for YOU sounds like the better option if you want to keep at least some of your fish, other than that i dont think you have 1 fish there (apart from the cory which needs to be in a bigger group aswell) actually suitable for your current tank size.

What plecs do you have btw?
