I went to Walmart earlier for some Stress Coat...because it's time for my weekly water change on my 22 gallon.

I normally don't even look at their fish..because all they have are reds usually..and I'm just not partial to red fish for some reason (dunno why just haven't ever felt the need to buy one...although I did buy one for my friend Amelia..but that's because she wanted it..anyways)..but for some reason I stopped and milled through all the cups of reds...and way in the back (the shelf they sit on is usually about 4-5 deep in cups..they don't sit them on top of one another) was this cute little purplish-pink and white marble.

Well I'm a sucker for purple fish and I just had one of my blue/black HM boys (Jae actually) in my 22 gallon die (from what I dunno..he was fine when I left Friday and Monday I came back to work he was dead...kinda wierd) so I figured "why not" I had an open slot...so nabbed him up.

I named him Dok (pronounced Doh-K) which is Thai for Decorative Pattern.

He's still real skittish, and stays in the back of his stall behind a plant, so the only picture I got was him still in his WM cup.

And btw I'd like to report the great conditions of this Walmart. They've even gotten new lids for the cups.

A you can see they've added holes all around the outer edge, along with the center holes (for more air intake).

They've also changed the feeding instructions to say, feed once a day (instead of once a week)

They've also changed the WC instructions to change the water 1/3 weekly and to use dechlorinated water (instead of no WC instruction at all)...and that doesn't mean change the cup water...they mean whatever setup you're keeping them in.

I mean, it's still not great...but atleast it's better then what it used to be.

The one in Irondale actually.

I meant to post this picture as well...stress coat has a new bottle out.

The regular 4oz bottle is 4.97 and this 8 oz bottle is only 5.97....hmmmmm

So of course I bought the big bottle..but mainly because of the nifty lid they've put on them.

It has a measuring cap on it. It has marks for 1ml, 5ml, and 10ml. (10ml is what you use for 10 galloms..so they've made it where you can measure out 1, 5 and 10 gallons at a time now)

Ok..I thought it was pretty cool...you might not, but lol but I sure did.

I noticed that on my bottle of dechlorinator a few weeks ago. It sure makes measuring out the dosage so much easier. No more digging for the measuring spoons anymore, YAY! :D

I think it's pretty cool that you can measure out for one gallons. I always use too much dechlorinator

Cute boy
Oh by the way, prepare yourself for more reds :hey:

I'm ready for them....I don't mean to come off as I dont' liek reds...just never felt the urge to buy one ;).

I love my red plakat you sent me..and I'm ready for some red girlies.

"bring it on"

I am very partial to cream bodies with various red splashes and cellophane fins... (just thinking about a betta Yeevia sent me today,) I'm not much of a 100% red body person either, but when it is combined with cream etc, it wins me over.

Our Walmart has had those covers for as long as I can remember (which may not be very long).

He's a cutie, and I think the new lids for the Stress Coat are very nice! I'm sure I'm always using too much too.

Very cute guy :)
The Walmart I go to almost religiously on the weekends *never know if I need more hair stuff...or hair magazines...or a plant or my tanks... * and they have those bigger cups and lids. A lot better than when I first kept bettas several years ago.

I had a couple red betta boys a long time ago...but I usually prefer the blues or purple-y colors...or the shimmery white-ish color my Fabio is. I don't mind reds, some are very pretty...but I guess I don't buy them really. :dunno:

I'm gonna use the lid for other med's as well. :D

He came out a little more before I left work..but he's not real "friendly" yet...lol course..if I'd been sitting on a shelf..facing my mortal enemy for God knows how long..being shaken and swished by every kid that walked by...I'd prolly be irritable too.

Not to mention...the check out lady dumped him upside down. She was talking to anotehjr employee and wasn't paying attention to what she picked up..and nearly turned the cup upside down to "scan" it. I shot my BF a look and he grabbed my hand and said something...lol I think he knew I was fixing to cause a scene. Luckily she saw the look at the same time and didn't finish turning it upside down.

Then laughed and said to the fish "oh, did I shake you up". :sly:

Well Mr. Dok finally decided to be a tad more friendly..although he still hides quite a bit..and come out for a small, and brief, photo session yesterday.

I do believe, he thinks his left side is his "good" side .

Pretty pretty pretty

I have always been partial to blue bettas. Reds are ok, but never really enticed me. Well, until Bama set his stare at me and made me take him home.
Contrarywise to the person who posted earlier, I never really liked the cambodian look. I prefer a dark and bright fishie body.

The wonderful thing about bettas is that there are colors and patterns for everyone.
