This is what I have NOW.
55 Gal planted
2 blue acara Breeding pair
6 red eye tetras
1 medusa pleco

36 Gal
1 keyhole
1 blue acara ( he will be rehomed this week)
8 x-ray tetras
1 clown pleco
1 BN pleco

I would like to add 2 more cichlids to my 55 gal. A rainbow and maybe a cupid Cichlid with a BN pleco. I might find my Medusa a new home too she is not the fish I thought she would be. Really is a waste of space I never see her she does not clean anything. That's besides the point sorry.

I also want to add 2 golden Dwarfs to the 36 gal once the BA is gone.

What do you think? Am I going a little crazy? or would it all be fine. I feel its border line over stocked if I add more cichlids.

I think your second idea can work, but the 55g is pretty much done with a breeding pair of largish cichlids in residence. The only thing I might consider would be a pair of convicts, where the pair could hold off the breeding acara. I don't think a rainbow can do that, and I don't know what a cupid is, so I can't comment on that. MAYBE you could get away with a single male fm.
