hi everybody,
I started a 58l fishtank with 12 fishes( 2 glass catfish. 4 golden pencilfish, gold nugget pleco, butterfly pleco, 2 platty and 2 angel fish) but unfortunatelly friday the first 6 died and I still don't know why!!!! Now I have one golden nugget, 1 butterfly pleco, 1 pencilfish and 2 platties and 2 angel fish.
I have done the water test and it shows: no3: 20, No2 0, ph 8, Kh 17, Gh 2
Does anybody know what I have to do to treat the Ph, GH and KH and what do they mean?

PH=use to determine the acidity of ur water 7 is the best under 7 is acid above 7 is alkaline.

GH=General hardness is use to measure of the dissolved calsium and magnesium slats. These salt directly influence the metabolism of fish, plants and microorganisms. Water with a high calcium and magnesium salt content is reffered to as hard and with a low content as soft. Most freshwater fish thrive at a general hardness level between 6 - 16.

KH=Carbonate hardness is use to determined if the water by the carbonate and bicarbonate content. This measurement is particularly important as the KH and PH value are interdependent. Higher the KH the more alkaline the water is the lower the KH the more acid the water is.

To adjest ph you can either add peat into ur filter/add driftwood/add chemical<-- usually its not suggested to mess with chemical and ph for beginer.

For both GH/KH can be adjest with an RO2 system which will destroy every bacteria in the water(good and bad)

Would be nice you let me know ur tank size and how long have ur tank been running and temperature :). And sorry for ur lose :( :rip: little fishy.

Glass Catfish are very sensitive and dont do well in a new tank. The tank needs to be well established before they are introduced. How long did the tank run before you added all these fish? It looks like you have some very expensive fish to have a brand new tank, like the gold nugget pleco, which can also be very sensitive. I dont know anything about the golden pencil fish..

Did you cycle the tank before adding fish? Did you add all the fish at once? As the tank is only 58l (12 gallons, 15 gallons US) it is far too small for angel fish. I would take the angel fish back to the shop then once you get the tank sorted out you can build the number of pencil fish up to 6 or so. Take a look at the pinned topics on cycling you are probably going through new tank syndrome.
