Could I?

I have one male betta in my tank and four females mixed in with four female guppies and one male. None of them fight what so ever. Then again, my guppy male thinks he's a shrimp and my male betta is scared of just about anything. XD There is a compatibility chart going around in some stores-I've run across it mostly at Petco and Petsmart, but even some small local shops have it. It's just basically a list of most domesticated tropical fish breeds readily available and how well they fair with one another or somebody from another breed. So far, it's seems I have been going against that chart my entire life and the only fish aggression I have EVER had in any of my tanks in the last twenty years was when my female betta beat up the male mid mating.

Your betta will be scared because the females may well beat him up.

My bettas love heavily planted tanks, it mimicks the rice paddys the naturally come from.

Your male guppy is scared because the female bettas are aggressive. Just because you don't see it doesnt mean its not happening. When you turn the light off the females might be beating the crap out of the male guppy.

Oh those darn adopted children... :shifty: Whatever's going on, the male's going to a new home sometime this weekend. Been in there for almost a year with those ladies and no damage yet, suppose four more days won't hurt.
