its saying i seriously need to add filteration, yet i am running an aquaone 1200l/hr external and an internal rated up to 200ltr tank size on my 300ltr

it states my filteration is capable of 158 gallons on an 80 gallon tank

you bad bad man! THINK OF THE FISHIES!!! :p

if your water is clean and parameters are fine and you dont have 3 foot fish in a 4 foot tank, you know when enough is enough. What do they want yyou to do? add filters until it resembles a washing machine?

Yeah, I think the conclusion should be that site is useful as a quick guide for newbies, but other considerations, like how fast your nitrate rises before a wc are more imprtant.

I'm not that knowledgable on cichlid stockings, but I have to say Stewardsons that your 300l combo looks to have an awful lot of different medium sized cichlids (1 firemouth cichlid,2 cupid cichlids, 1 blue acara, 1 elliotii cichlid) all competing for territory against each other and the other more peaceful fish. I'm planning on moving my African fish out of the 560l and I'm still concerned about my pair of Lionheads plus the two unpaired ones (all 6-9cm) sharing a 120x41cm footprint!

My Rio240 at moment...

Tank (LxDxH): 120 x 41 x 51 cm (66.3gUS)
Filters: Eheim 2078, Juwel Standard H/Bioflow 8.0 + Pump 1000

2 x 7cm African Butterfly Fish (Pantodon buchholzi)
3 x 7cm Golden Wonder Killifish (Aplocheilus Lineatus)
3 x 8cm African Leaf Fish (Ctenopoma acutirostre)1 x 12cm African Leaf Fish (Ctenopoma acutirostre)
4 x 7cm Synodontis Petricola (Synodontis petricola) <---- Closest match to Pyjama Synodontis

Your aquarium filtration capacity for above selected species is 514%.
Recommended water change schedule: 12% per week.
Your aquarium stocking level is 60%

i only did it on my 2ft divided betta tank with 3 Males & 8 Kuhlis and running 2 filters apparently thats not enough!

Bahahaaa I win  :shifty:

Your aquarium filtration capacity for above selected species is 22%.
Recommended water change schedule: 80% per week. (You might want to split this water change schedule to two separate 55% per week)
Your aquarium stocking level is 214%.
Your tank is seriously overstocked. Unless this setup is temporary, you should consider a larger tank

I might have misjudged a few fish, i cant remember if i had the rummynose in there or not at the same time, though thinking about it, it had flying foxes i didnt account so either way...

It was massively over stocked but it was...well... heavily planted was an understatement... was planted front to back with lots of fast growing plants like vallis and hygrophillia. Plants had to have about 30cm cut off them on a weekly/biweekly basis. To get the good plant growth without co2 and fert dosing, i heavily stocked instead.

Water tested twice a week, water changed very 7-10 days, 30% water chances...

Water results were, without ANY blips...

Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 20ppm
Phosphates - High (cant think of the JBL scale off my head)

Although... the advise is pretty scary LOL

Apparently you cant keep siamese fighters with snails, bristlenose, corys, pencilfish, congo tetras, cardinals, harlequins, denisoni barbs, honey gouramis or zebra danio...

Just realised my mistake, i didnt have the tiger barbs at the same time as the fighter though stocking levels were always the same with one species or another.

But it doeswnt mention fighters and tigers shouldnt be together LOL

Aparently tiger barbs cant live with cherry barbs, harlequins, congo tetras or pencil fish.

And at 214% overstocked... LOL

The last bit of advise... "Bring tiger barb numbers from 5 to 10 & Bring green tiger barb numbers from 5 to 10" :good: so...214% overstocked and they want me to add more fish!? lol

bahahahahahahahahaha!

I have to agree, it's good as a guide, but it would only ever be a starting point for me. Another tool in the box, and like tools you need to know when they are appropriate to use and when they aren't. I'd trust the advice from here way more. I believe that is why it was banned in the first place - the creator was taking information from questionable sources and when he was being questionned about it was getting defensive so eventually a flat ban was imposed.
