I'm such a sucker for costumes.. I've been doing theatre all my life, so I have wayyy too many of them.
My bedroom closet has no normal clothes. All costumes.
And now I'm going to show them off. Because I am bored and have no life.
Forgive the stoned look.. it was 2am. I started taking pics of this costume right after I'd finished sewing on the lace. Did this for my fashion class, as part of a look at fashion throughout history. 1880's Victorian bustle dress.
This costume I love.. it's gotten so many uses. Christmas Parade as Santa's Helper, Christmas Concert performing "Santa Baby", work Christmas party cos they were too cheap to hire their own Santa.. Not to mention them letting me wear it while working Christmas Eve!
Hallowe'en last year.. I'm so obsessed with Rocky Horror Picture Show, it's not even funny. I spent almost $200 making that costume.
Hallowe'en the year before.. my best friend was Catwoman. I'll try to find the picture of both of us..
When I directed Wizard of Oz.. I wasn't Dorothy, but we had an open house for the high school to get grade 8's to come, and the girl playing Dorothy couldn't make it. And since the ruby slippers were mine anyway.. I actually played 3 roles in that.. a witch [there were 3, it was a messed up Oz], a Jitterbug, and the voice in Tinman's song going "Wherefor art thou, Romeo?" ..It's sad how much I loved that!
Grade ten. I was the Princess in Aladdin. I am the only person in my high school's history who was ever allowed onstage in a costume that so blatantly breaks the dress code.
And they'll never let it happen again. We tried to wear dresses with spaghetti straps in Oz, and they refused.
And of course Hallowe'en this year. Hermione Granger, the ever popular costume!
..And yes. I made every single one of those. I've been sewing since I was 8 years old.
