as titled, i used to have a small group of albinos who occasionally laid eggs, after a cooler water change.

so lately ive done the whole guppies and BN plec breeding thing, woopty doo you might say  but im just learning

so i fancy trying my hand at cory's although not really challenging, slightly more challenging than previous species.

im basically asking what are the hardiest/ easiest to breed cories, would it be albinos?

and im not looking to do this for any kind of profit, just merely to try my hand at it.

cheers

Getting them to spawn in half the battle. Then keeping the fry a live is the next hard part.

Yes your albinos would be a good start.

its all down to the individual fish at the end of the day, if they want to spawn then they will and if they dont they wont no matter how much you look after them/do cold water changes/feed them etc etc. it really is a gamble as to whether they will spawn but bronze corys are meant to be quite easy to spawn and are good starter fish :good:
its not quite as easy as live bearers which in my experience are guarenteed to breed at some time no matter what the waters like......

 Im not experienced at all in these matters but have heard the bronze and peppered are usually good starters. Pygmy cories are really easy to breed but the fry are extremely small and perhaps tad harder to raise (at least I think so!). It does depend really, my caudis have bred twice that I know of without any conscious or known effort on my behalf but when I actually try to get them breeding, no luck. Might be best to pick something you like the look of and go from there.

:good: good stuff, thanx for replies, well as i have successfully had eggs from albino might get a group of them and a group of bronze, is there a chance of cross breeding? not the end of the world if so as i can put them in seperate tanks

Again nnnooo expert at all, really not sure on this (any of youse guys? lol). I thought there were chances between bronze, peppered and albino as all same genus but could be dramatically wrong. There were discussions on another thread about cross breeding but that would have been wrong as different genus and eggs needed to be destroyed. These unsure, hope someone answers soon x

Albino & bronze cories are the same family genus, albino being a colour variation of the bronze and they will breed quite happily. :)

my peppereds are always laying eggs on the glass, i just dont have the time/space to rear the eggs to adulthood, once the tank is mature, and you're doing regular cool water changes, it should be continuous if they're getting good food
