Do cories need to be kept in a group of their own type or can you keep:

1 albino cory with 1 spotted cory with 1 bronze cory ( same type of species but look different )

Or do they need to be kept in 2 of their own exact kind.

Different species can be kept together but I would suggest (if you can) to get a few more than 3.
3 really is the minimum as these are very social fish and really like company.

I have:
2 peppered (beautiful markings)
2 bronze
2 Julii

the bronze are very dull in colourings compare to other two species....favourite has got to be peppered which have a green sheen

Thanks for your comment!

my tank is 11gals and will host 1 or 2 dwarf gourami's and some white clouds. Would having more than 3 Corys be overstocking?

If corys are going to be your only bottom feeder I would probably add another 2 corys. Is your filteration fairly substantial and do you do weekly water changes? If the answer to these questions is yes then i see no problem in having some other corys.

Ben

I agree with good filtration I see no prob.

I have never kept gouramis but I have heard that they can get aggro in smaller tanks - I would say that an 11 gallon is pretty small so ask around for advice on keeping two of them IMHO

To my knowledge, a male and a female gourami is ok, but 2 males can get aggressive.

I may have to get 2 because the lfs sells them in pairs. They may be abled to offer 1.

Best of luck to you...Gouramis are a lovely looking fish and Corys....well I just have a soft spot for em!
