I've read that as long as Corys are in groups of 3 or more, they're fine. Even if the trio are of different species. I've got a Julii, a Sterbei and a Bronze in my planted community. I wondered if this was common practise, or if people tend to have lots of the same species. I like being able to tell mine apart easily!

Not a good idea in my opinion, single species specimens in groups is a recipe for unwanted cross breeding. It is always best to have both sexes of a species in any mixed group. I prefer to have groups of at least 6 of a species.

me too  6x Actually I am getting more and more to get 10 or more of a species of any shoaling fish.

They also seem to be happier if they have a nice group of thier own species.

I thought they were only able to breed with their own kind. Can they all interbreed or only certain ones?

Cory aenus (bronze and albinos) can interbreed, you end up with muts that take after the bronze or are a lot lighter than bronze.

Not sure about the other cory's like Schwartzi or Tril's which I have in my community tank, they do flock together but I've never seen them attempt to spawn together.

It is my understanding that many if not all of the Corydoras species can interbreed.

Bronze and albino C. aeneus are the same species.

Well our Doug who's a peppered does the sexy dance with everyone cory wise in the tank.

We have 8 corys in total and they are very happy. They all sleep together in a little group, and they play together. I dont see a problem as long as you have a group of 6 or so corys.

That's what I thought. I've got a mixed trio, 3 different species, and the don't breed (I don't want fry either, I've got nowhere to put them.) but that fact that they are different species doesn't bother them, they get on well together.
