i've seen a corydoras in my lfs. thinking of buying it. I don't know much about these fish so any info would be great.
Thanks in advance.

It really depends on which corydoras they have. The most commonly seen ones are C. Aeneus (bronze corydoras) & C. paleatus (peppered corydoras). Though there a many many more corydoras that all have different requirements. Could you please describe what they looks like? Or even better, go back to the lfs to check on the name and/or take a picture for us?

Check out this link for some thumbnails of the corydoras species: Planet Catfish
*crosses her fingers and hopes that we're still allowed to link to them*

Hi,

What fish do you plan to keep them with, if you get one make sure you get it some friends as they like to live in groups.

Emma :)

Hi chris. :)

Corydoras are small, bottom dwelling, catfish that are perfect citizens of any peaceful community tank. They are schooling fish and to see them at their best, you should have several of them. Unlike most schooling fish, they actually interact and play with each other. They are not difficult to keep as long as your tank is cycled and kept clean.

The most commonly found corys are bronze and albino C. aeneus and C. paleatus aka "peppered corys." Either one is a good choice for a tank with a temperature range between 70 and 78 degrees F., although the peppered corys can live in somewhat cooler waters too. There are a number of other species frequently carried by lfs as well, but for anyone's first corys, I recommend the C. aeneus.

What other fish are you thinking about keeping them with?

well in my tank at the moment i have 4 black widows, 2 platys and a speckled molly. My tank is only 15g. i am buying a 46g tank in the next few months so if they prefer to live in a shoal i may wait till i buy the new tank.

Hi chris. :)

It might be a good idea to wait then. If you can fit 6 corys in your new tank, it would be great! You will thoroughly enjoy them.

Err, I found this thread in Oddballs? Moved.

Hi chris. :)

Someone was probably trying to move it here and let go of the pull down menu we use too quickly. We goof sometimes, but at least now it's in the right place. I hope when you get your corys you will visit here often. :D
