well.. more good news.. after having these fish for 3 years they are spawning. eggs are quite small in comparison to most corys and she lays alot of them.. 4-6 eggs per clutch. they actually are conflicting what i have read where they say they do not follow typical "t-position" spawning.. because mine are definately doing the "t-position".

i would say right now she is probably nearing 100 eggs laid and looks to be nowhere done. and to follow are some pics of the spawning...

here are a few pics from the spawning.. will get more in a bit...

How did you spawn them(water parameters, decor, mood setting). Im setting up a Cory breeding tank and i wanted to give Elegans a go.
Thanks.

:good: Congrats. Wonderful to hear your corys are spawning. Got any pics of the fry??? :D

sorry for the delay in the responce as i have been on holidays for the past week. before i left i seperated the fry into small groups to ensure the best chances some fry would survive. and i came home to see 27 of 30 alive in the small containers with javamoss... i couldn't see the remaining 40 or so in a tank filled with javamoss, but i am sure they are in there somewhere. the fry hatch out very.. very small and have grown considerably since the hatch, but are very very small still.

the tank they spawned in was a simple barebottom 5 gal tank. there were 3 fish in the tank, one male and two females with only one female taking part in the spawning. the temp was around 72 degrees as it is an unheated tank and is just at room temp. i conditioned them with bloodworms prior to the spawn and did a cool water change when a thunderstorm was moving through our city.

they seemed to be fairly easy to spawn as they had been in a comminuty tank for the last 2+ years and when this tank free'd up i put them in there. they were probably in there for 2-3 weeks before the spawn.

i hope this is enough info for everyone for now.. if you want to know anything else just ask away and i will try to answer them as fast as i can.

Do you have any pictures of the fry? So you didnt feed them for the week you were gone? I started feeding my Bronze C. Aeneus fry microworms 3 days after they hatched and they started growing fast.

they ate whatever they could find within the javamoss.. which is i am sure alot of microscopic foods. they are now eating bbs and microworms. they are still too small to take a pic of as my camera is not the greatest
