I just purchased 3 julii cories, and noticed that one is sans barbels. Do they grow back?
Just thought i'd give a link to that article in case anybody wanted to read up on itclutterydrawer said:There's also some research evidence that corys' barbels can be damaged by high nitrAte so keep it as low as possible.
As mentioned before, top quality water and a varied diet-cAtFiSh- said:yeah i also noticed on one of my pandas that its barbels are gone. i thought it might have been from grubbing about in the gravel (even though its fine, rounded gravel). is any medication necessary for them to grow back? or should i just keep the water in top condition?
he still seems to be able to eat fine. i just put some algae wafer in the tank and he was the first one to find it and he seems to be having no trouble with it.Inchworm said:Hi -cAtFiSh-
It would be a good idea to keep an eye on your little cory to be sure he is able to eat. Since they use their barbels to sift through the gravel in search of little bits of food, if he has none he might be getting less than he needs. Perhaps a little extra attention, and food, at mealtime will make a big difference for him.
