Just a teeny bit confused. I'm aware that there are many different types of corys (e.g. bandit, peppered, panda...) Are they actually "different" or is it just the colouring?

AND, if they ARE different, where does the albino cory fit in? Is it yet another type, or is it an albino version of one of the other types (like you can have albino people...they're still people, just a different colour - they're not actually DIFFERENT)?

Do you understand what I mean?!

Although I think all cories are generally the same, they each have characteristics that make them a little different. For instance, some will be active all day, and in the middle-to-bottom of the tank, where as others are active mainly at night and just at the bottom. And of course colors too.
Inchworm will be the best to help you with this further, I think.

There are many, many different species of cory, and each is indeed a different species with different shape, colour, pattern, habits and needs.

A few species also have different colour variants within the species in the same way that there are many different colours within the betta splendens species.

The species of cory with the most colour variants seems to be the Bronze Cory (corydoras aeneus), which is also the one found most commonly in an albino form as well as several other colours.

albino corys are a colour morph of the bronze cory, I believe; the others are all different kinds (but within the same group)

Whooo hooo! You rock! :D Thanking you! That answers my question perfectly...I knew I could depend on you guys!

Hi Pysgodyn :)

I agree with SirMinion, but want to comment that the most commonly found albino corys is the C. aeneus, which is often called the bronze cory. Peppered corys (C. paleatus) are frequently found as albinos too, but I think they used to be more common than they are lately. C. sterbai is another cory that exists in an albino coloration, but they are seldom found.

Gah, my brain! I knew that! I always get those two scientific names mixed up.
