got a 220 litre tank, 4'x2'x1.5' ish....

current occupants

big group of cardinal tetras
big group of harlequin rasboras
6 praecox rainbows
1 female betta
couple of chain loaches
couple of ottos
loads of amano shrimp

we will be increasing the size of the shoal of rainbows and adding a small group of apistogramma over the next month or so.

tank is reasonably heavily planted, plenty of bogwood for cover, strong filtration and well maintained, pH sits around 7.2. ammonia and ntirite stable at 0 and nitrate rarely gets above 10ppm (comes out of the tap at 0 and plenty of plants keeps it low).

we're looking for a nice decent sized group of cories to finish the tank off (around 15-20 dependong on the size of the species we go for). We want something a bit unusual that will look striking in a decent sized shoal, don't mind spending a bit of money (not silly money but above the average!!). Would prefer one of the smaller species but not set on anything.

Just want some suggestions for a beautiful unusual cory we can hunt down :D

Green laser

Hi! Miss Wiggles! Nice to see you. Been too long. I hope all is well.

Hiya Sue

yeah i've not been around for a bit, long story, everythings been v hectic, but getting back on track now. :)

generally happier than i have been in a while so yeah everything's good.

hows things with you?

Not mad keen on green lasers :/ anything else?

dunno whats available, we have a couple of shops near here who get special cories on occasion, and we're quite willing to hunt the internet and get hold of something rare from anywhere... there's a couple of v good shops like trimar which can generally get hold of just about anything and send you it. so don't feel restricted by the liklihood of getting hold of something (unless it means a personal trip to the amazon collecting or something like that which may be taking it a tiny bit too far :fun: )

size wise, prefer smaller cories, not the true dwarf species but some smallish ones would be nice.

colour i'm fairly open, Ian likes black and white cories.

Seen another thread you mentioned you black cories, done a bit of googling but turned up quite a mix of species, got any pics of yours?

OK I'm sold!

those babies are beeeautiful

now to persuade Ian!!

they got any special requirements above usual cory care?

I haven't a clue. LOL As I said in that thread, mine were very easy to care for in the mid 70F range. They have given me no trouble at all. I am guessing similar to aeneus. They may be pricey. They cannot be wild caught and are coming from private breeders. Everybody loves them. They are the new panda. They may be bigger than small.

Carmen and Ales got theirs from Lee Fearnley.

Jarcher, as he said in his thread--the first one--paid 36 pounds for 4. I didn't see that he mentioned the lps.

not wildly out of our price range, as we've only 1 tank now (sob :-( ) and we've nearly all the fish for it anyway, we can afford to spend a little on the few remaining fish to get.

I shall see what Ian reckons and do some research.

Ian is now working at an aquatic store outside Shropshire as a purchaser I think.

This is the shop. He does not have the Blacks listed but who knows!

C. duplicareus

The adolfi is similar. Neither one is common although not impossible. They are usually owned by collectors and officianados. I have duplicareus :)

Ian would like the duplicarus... he used to keep metae and adolphi which are similar.

i'd like something a little different though!!

LOL So I gathered. I thought Ian would like the duplicareus. I am sorry, when you said you would check with Ian, I thought of Ian Fuller. LOL So I sent you to him. Can hardly find a better source. He certainly might know someone who has the Blacks or is breeding them. Alex and Carmen have some. Theirs really should be ready to spawn too. Why not PM her. She just posted in my Black thread.

They seem to be easy to spawn and there is a ready market.

Were you married before?
