Cory Stuck Inside A Shell

Please can anybody help, tell me best course of action....

My three-line cory is stuck inside a shell that I was recently given as a gift, I should have known as I had a bad feeling about it.

I will try to attach a picture to show you....

I have picked up the shell and tried to tap against a stone to help him wriggle out but he seems to be stuck as it twists in a funny angle.

I feel I should leave him to try himself and god-willing he will manage it himself or is there anything I can do to help.

He has been in there for about 8 hours now.

I think he need help...can you try and break the shell? You might be able to snap enough off with a pair of pliers perhaps?

I think you should put some food outside the shell and taunt him for being stupid.

prize it open with the handle of a knife or something, its just a shell.

Panic over, I have managed to gently coax him out backwards with a soft cotton bud, he looks ok, a bit red on one gill, which I will treat as advised on other posts.

Glad you got him out. You should maybe try blocking the gap so he can't get in again.

I have thrown the shell away, I don't think I could have made it safe and it had lots of sharp machine-cut edges to it,,,,,its gone!!
