I have 3 peppered cories in my 20G aquarium. They seem to like their conditions because they had eggs. And they are everyone around the tank. I am wondering if it would work to put these into a breeding net until i can get a tank to have them grow in. They are just eggs, but I can see little guys in them.

I have the tank pretty well planted, but most are fake plants at the moment.

Best advice remove the egg onto breeding net or get small breeding tank 2 1/2 or 5 gallons with air stone and heater. If you leave eggs in the tank sooner the adult cories will find it and have for lunch or snak.

This is the second spawning. Seems they are still getting better at it, but there were a lot of dud's and not enough good eggs. They should be doing better from now on though, with new plants for better spawning points.

I agree. If you are wanting to save some eggs, then you need to put them in a breeding net or another tank. Most cories will eat their eggs, and peppered cories seem to do it more then others. Ive seen peppered cories spawn and the other adults come behind and eat the eggs as the female layed them.

Peppered cories usually spawn easily once they have done it before. Some people dont like the breeding nets, but I have had some success with them. I just modified the net so the baby cories couldnt get hurt. The only reason I use the net is because I dont have the space right now to set up another tank. I would if I could.

Dont worry about the bad eggs. Not every egg in the spawn is going to be good. I have some gold shoulder cories that spawn like crazy and for some reason, not all the eggs are fertile either. Odds are, if the glass is clean, then they will lay most of the eggs on the glass.

They seem to be got alright at spawning on the underside of the leaves and what not. The eggs seem to stay there for a week or so, and then they disappear, from hatching or getting eaten I am not sure. Setting up a new tank for my new planting experiment, so might look to breed some for this tank.

Thanks for the advice :)

hi, i have 5 albino corys and i keep getting patches of eggs everywhere! i try to save some from being eaten-but they last a few days then suddenly disapear! Does anyone know any tale tale signs that will help me know when the eggs will arrive- as all my corys are fat all the time....we call them pink pigs as they are always eating!!!

Im guessing you are talking about Albino C. Aeneus. If so, they will usually spawn very soon after a water change. The ones that lasted a few days probably hatched into the tank. The eggs take about 3-4 days to hatch. If the water is warm, then they will probably hatch sooner then that. Keep an eye on them and if they are doing the "T" position, then they are spawning. C. aeneus will eat their eggs, but dont seem to do it as quickly as some of the other cories.
