Checking on my new baby albino corys today sadly i found 1 little fella dead. I bought 6 on sunday the girl in shop said they where about 4 months old, they all seemed very lively speeding all over the tank but 1 always seemed to be hiding, also it looked a bit smaller than the others. Is it more common in younger fish to get a sudden death like this as my water is fine and all my other fish look and are acting normal. I went back to the shop and bought another 1 to bring my shoal up to 6 again. Thanks a very sad Mick. This was my first ever loss of a fish so taking it a bit hard.

When you say the water is fine, what are your results from testing and how often do you do a water change?

Sorry you`ve lost one  It`s horrible and frustrating when that happens. I took delivery of 5 lovely Corydora Napoensis last week, 2 days later one of them went very pale and died :-( Also one of the new 10 green neons I had delivered at the same time died, no explanation especially as the other 9 neons and the other 4 corys are absolutely fine. :) They`re all quite young so it could have been something and nothing.....low immune system, stress etc???
Sometimes it just happens with no explanation, sad but you could send yourself round the twist if you try to make sense of it.

Hi thanks for replying, my water stats are ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate about 40, its between 20-40 from tap, and i change about 35% water weekly, thanks Mick

Added another albino to bring numbers back up to 6, they all seem fine at moment and all six are out all over the tank, i think the 1 that died must have been weak or scared because was hiding all the time. The only problem now is convincing the baby albinos that they are not serpea tetras and should not lead the tetras all over the tank as they seem to tire much quicker than the corys. Mick
