At what age would do you release the young into the main tank as i have a rather large 2-3 week old little fella called colin and he doesnt seem to keen on his trap at the moment so im thinking he would be much happier roaming the substrate, hes just under a inch and really chunky so i think hes sturdy enough to hold his own whats everyone else thoughts thanks in advance

How the heck did you get him to an inch in just 2-3 weeks?! Mine are 1 and 1/2 weeks old and are 3/16 inch long. What are you feeding them, steroids with their steak and eggs?

My thoughts exactly.
mmm steak and eggs :)

I usually release mine at 1/2 inch as long as they are swimming and eating well.
I have released them much sooner though. The elegans fry got released as soon as they could eat the crushed flakes well and starting darting around. They all survived. (That was a shocker.) I had no choice though. My net holders broke...

Thanks for replys.

The little guy i released was a lone ranger the only hatchee and my very first hatched cory so he had plenty of food and got big quick lol.

I now have 15 smaller ones growing out in the trap im going to give them another week or so and release them as they are growing rapidly also.

Thanks again for the replys
