Hi, what are some good foods for corries? I have two albino corries and they dont seem to like shrimp pellets very much. What are some other good sinking foods?

Thanks

I think bloodworms work good. My pygmy cories eat them. Make sure to defrost them b4. ;)

-Arrowhead :D
I need food that sinks fast, my other fish eat all the food if it sinks slowly...

Well if you get a turkey baster and suck in the bloodworms first and then squirt it in front of your cory that would work also. But dont get too close so then it doesnt swim away. ;)

i feed mine a tetra prima type food to, to make sure it gets to the bottom of the tank before the other fish get it, i drop it into the current of the filter, zips straight to the bottom bypassing the other fish!
tadaa!

Why dont u just turn off ur lights, then in 5 minutes drop some blood worms in, the fish wont get them, only ur cories

Are cories nocturnal? They can see in the dark!!! :hyper: ...

Mine seem to be mainly crepuscular, particularly active early in the morning and at night. Don't get the impression their eyesight is brilliant at any time, they seem to use their barbels a lot.

I feed them half an hour before the tank lights come on and/or half an hour after lights out.

Hi newfishaddict :)

My best advice to you is to toss those shrimp pellets in the trash! Ever since Wardley's changed their recipe, a couple of years ago, I've never found a brand that was worth bothering with. Worse, if they aren't completely eaten, they will accumulate in the gravel and rot.

Corys should be fed a diet high in protein. I feed mine Ocean Nutrition, Formula One flake food. It's 55% minimum crude protein. I also feed them a lot of live blackworms (or tubifex worms) and when that's not available, frozen bloodworms. For the balance of their diet, they get spirulina discs and Hikari sinking wafers.

If your other fish eat their food, on its way to the bottom, just put in enough for everyone. :D

I didnt know that about wardleys shrimp pellots. I have some, its a good thing I havent been using them. Mine seem to eat flake food more then anything else. Ive been using the Tetra Tetracolor flake food. Is that good?

Hi Barracuda518 :)

I don't know exactly what the ingredients in that kind of flake food are, but if you look on the back of the can, it will tell you. The higher the % of protein is, the better food it will be for your corys.

The better brands at a good lfs will cost a little more, but will usually be higher in protein content than the big name brands. IMHO, it's worth the effort to find them. :D
