Corn Snake Help Please?

Sounds great!! :good:

Forgot to comment on this:

Also, at what size should I be thinking of moving him into a larger viv, I am thinking 36 x 12 x 12?

You could move him to a larger tank any time. As long as he has options of nice, tight-fitting hides and a range of temperatures, he'll be just fine.

36x12x12 is what I've kept my honduran milksnake, Magma, in since I bought him a 4 months of age, and he's never had a problem!

It depends on the individual snake though.I have a 3ft albino King snake and i cant put her in anything bigger than a 2ft viv.I have a 3ft for her but when ever i put her in it she will not feed even though i feed her in a feeding tub she still refuses

Well in general with corn snakes, provided with enough hiding places, a good gradient as squeeker said and an overall "cluttered" appearance your corn should be happy in a full size vivarium from a very early age.

If the viv looks a mess to you and friends say "errr I cant see him you've got too much stuff in there" You've probably got a happy hiding snake ;)

My own corn Stanley has been in a 36x15x18 since he was 6 weeks old and fed with no problems like clockwork (grrr till this winter and a housemove came but that's sorted now) and has always been the most friendly of temperaments :good: Only now that he is 18 months old and naturally more inclined to boldly cruise the vivarium whenever he likes, have I begun to thin out the clutter and exchange them for bigger sized items :) Here's two pics to give you an idea of how I kept him as a baby and how his viv is now ;)

Here's the before pic;

And the updated one :good:

Hi again,

I just wanted to say thanks again for all the replies and advice, since my last post I have finished off the last bits of the bigger viv, and got the snake settled in there - he's fed since as well which eased my mind.

Yesterday I noted he was starting to shed again, so I misted him and then today he'd shed over his head and eyes, but the body was still in tact, so I gave him a bath in mildly warm water, and he's easily shed all the rest in one big part half hour later.

So, thanks again! :)

Excellent! Glad to hear he's shedding easier now!

If he continues to shed at frequent intervals (every 2-3 weeks) you may still want to have him vet-checked for parasites.
