Cories Resting

sounds nice.

I know not all cories are actually completely bottom dewlling, I think it maybe the s. trili' that are middle level, I could be wrong. I'm so tired and annoyed with work today, I'm not thinking straight, lol.

only 1.5hours left then I get get home and get some sleep :S

My C. trilineatus go where ever the other cories go. They spend most of their time playing in the airstone. The cories that usually stay in the mid-levels of the tank are the Corydoras pygmaeus and the Corydoras habrosus. Im sure there are others that do it to, but those are the most I hear about.

Hi Barracuda!

Handsome fish!

My pandas like to dance around the mini-cory tank alot with the Betta gone. They are in a 20 usg with about 15 other small black and white types.

I have 6 Brocha Splendens and 4 meletaneia in a 20 long. (36", I believe.) There are a dozen plus harlequin and pork chop Rasaboras with them. It is a really nice size tank for cories. The rasaboras seem to be good tank mates. Although I sometimes worry for them with the emerald's spines and size that they might get speared.

How do the queens (Botia dario) do with the cories? Mine are getting larger than I expected and are very rough and tumble. There are 3 queens in the 100 usg community tank. I got 3 to join the loney one I had to make 4, but one jumped out in quarantine.

Those are great cory pics. Nice selection. I'm looking forward to seeing your new ones. :good:

That was exactly my question reapeatedly to the supplier who offered them in a package with some Botia I won on AB. He never did tell me, but he promised I would like them

Actually I did. They seem to be a variayion of the harlequin. Only they have their color layed out in the shape of a pork chop on their sides.

Thanks!

I wouldnt worry to much about the Brochis Splendons. I have 2 of them (going to get 6-8 more when I move) and I have had them for a year now. You are right about they dorsal fin, they do like to sit with them standing straight up.

As for the B. dario, I only have one. I originally had 3 (all they had) and 2 of them died in quaratine. The one thats left hangs out with the B. striata. Ive read they like to be together because they look so similiar. So I never tried to get anymore and all seems well. I havent seen any aggression towards the cories, but thats a risk to take when keeping loaches and cories together. When I had my Bronze C. aeneus in my loach tank, they were not happy at all. They stayed hidden a lot of the time. I moved them over to the 29 gallon and they spawned the day I moved them. They are much happier now. I think the smaller loaches like the striata and dario may be ok with the cories. I know Dojo's work great with them.

I hope to have my new cories Thursday. I set them up a 20 gallon long and it looks perfect for cories. Lots of substrate to search.

It's funny with the Botia. The two largest dario from Fosters and Smith (the biggest is probably over 3 inches) play all the time in one corner of the tank. The smallest of the two straita (less than 2") is with them playing all the time. The 2 clowns hardly ever join them or the first lone dario or the other larger straita. There are 5 Loaches/Botia in the tank now. (There are 3 straita waiting to join them.) I thought they would all hang together and sleep together and all, but they have a mind of their own. The pepper clan (Rocky Balboa "et al") pay them no mind and do the sexy dance quite often.

Yeah, I dont think the striata and dario will be the problem. They problem comes with the clowns that get so much bigger. I have 7 and 3 of them are approaching the 4" mark and I think the cories are frightened by them. My striata and dario are barely 2.5" at the moment. Also, the number of cories in the tank greatly out numbers the 4 botias.

Thats a nice fish in your avator :good:

Yeah, I have six of them. I'm setting up their new home I hope this weekend--60 lbs of rock. I've never set up a wet/dry filter before. That's what's really holding me up. It's a Sea Clear System II--125 usg. Takes up half my living room. (I am prone to exaggeration.) I'm trying to figure out if the dwarf petrocolas are big enough to live with them.

Hi Barracuda518 :)

Eleven axelrodi??? :hyper:

Next time you might want to think about getting some of his C. sarareensis. They are nice fish and quite rare. He was the first one to breed them and still seems to be the only seller offering them. They aren't brightly colored or vividly marked, but are a very nice fish just the same. :D

Congratulations, Barracuda!

I would love to see them. I really enjoy large #s of same species cories.

(Aside: I said I have 5 loaches/botia in the community tank. With the clowns it is 7. Soon I will put the 3 other straita in--or move them to another community. My tanks are recovering from a major water change to move their locations. The community tank load is high, and it needs time to recover with any big change.)

Yes it is confirmed. You are a MTSD sufferer. My largest groups are the anaeus that just keep increasing one or two at a time on their own and the pandas. I couldn't begin to count accurately either of these.

Have you gotten your sarareensis to spawn yet?
