I've decided to try my hand at Cories again. I unsuccessfully tried to keep a Panda (rescue attempt), and two Albino Cories, who died of unknown causes. I kept a small, unknown Cory for over a month, but he mysteriously vanished while I was away for a week.

My tank is a 72 gallon bow front. Sorry I don't have measurements. Well filtered, well planted (fake plants), and a mixed substrate (1/4 gravel, 3/4 sand). The only bottom dwellers I have are two Ghost Shrimp. 0 Amm, 0 Nitrites, unknown current Nitrates. Last I checked these it was 10 or less. PH is between 7.6-7.8. I can't exactly match the color on the test card. Unknown hardness.

Which Cories should I try next? I would like to start with a group of three and see how successful I am. Then later add another 2-3.

Thanks in advance.

Well, that basic Cory around here is either the Bronze (C. aeneus) or the peppered (C. paleatus). Start with 6 of either one of those.

Enjoy.

What's the temperature of the tank, what are the current inhabitants, and how deep is it?

Temp sits around 78.

Current stocking:
1 zebra danio (The only one I couldn't catch when getting rid of my Danios)
1 male guppy
2 female guppies
3 female gold dust mollies
4 molly fry
3 male platies (various)
6 female platies (one is a small ex-feeder)
9 harlequin rasboras
2 ghost shrimp

I changed 3/4 of the tank substrate to sand tonight.
Depth - From sand level to the top of the water level, it's about 22".

Anyone have any experience with Melini Cories? I searched and only found one topic in the forum. I Googled and read up on them also.

No experience with the melini but when I looked them up they are barely within your temperature band. As long as you don't raise your temperature at all they should be OK in your tank. Your tank mates should be OK with cories and the cories will appreciate the sand in the substrate.
