Cories and sand

my guess is the store would not admit that a $2 bag of sand would look better and be better for your fish than a $15 bag of gravel

ive got sand in my tank and the corys love it they dig in it but my plec isnt to keen he always sits on rocks and slate instead and its deffinitely not hard because its special aquarium sand.

cories are very helpful if you have sand. They level it out

hmmm I guess they do, but my sand just has loads of dimples in it!
 I think you are both right!

In the morning, my 55 gallon cory tank looks like a heard of buffaloes ran through it, but during the day their more casual swimming around seems to smooth it back out. :D

my plecs don't seem particularly bothered if they have sand or gravel they just like plenty of hiding places and yummy plants. My cories do seem happier now I've moved to sand, but the best thing is my common whiptail and longnosed whiptail (probs not the right name...). They partially bury themselves in it!
