I got fed up with having only two angels in my 180 litre angel spawning tank and bought 6 julii cories on saturday. As if they knew I'd just given up on them, my angels have now laid a whole bunch of eggs on the filter.

I set up the tank in the hope of being able to raise angel fry. Will the cories eat the baby angels at any point?

a few weeks ago I would've said no - but then I witnessed one of my cories eat a platy fry! I've had platy fry and cories for months on end and I didn't think they ate fry but I got it wrong.

It may have been a one off but if they will eat a platy fry then I think you can assume they will eat angel fry too

okey dokey. I think I'll have to move em then. Cories look so sweet and innocent it's hard to imagine them gobbling fry. Ah well...

I keep dwarf Cory cats with shrimp. I have seen them totally pass by the tiny shrimp baby. With Cory cats they have to be right on top of the food to eat it. They are not hunters. Tetras are much more a threat. If you have a sickly or slow fry yes a Cory might get it. Most healthy fry will be fine with Cory cats. Also the angle parents will not let cores get too close to the fry.

I would not worry much. The reason they have so many fry is because not all live.

I don't see them as predetory hunters of fry and I wouldn't of believed that they would eat fry if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.
They don't set out to hunt out fry and eat them but if one comes under their nose and they are hungry they will eat it.

I've also seen them eat their own eggs too. Whether you decide to move them or not is up to you :)

Yeah If the fry w on the ground and the Cory found it they would eat it I know. But fry normally are fast enough to get away from fish that get close to them. It could have been a sick or weak fry that you saw get eaten. It happens not all fry survive dispute all your good efforts.

Yes Cory cats eat their own eggs and should not be trusted with there own fry. Because their own fry stay on the bottom where the Cory are and the cory will eat there own fry.

I think out of the 50+ angle fry you have maybe 4 or 7 fry would be eaten by Cory cats. Not enough to really worry about is what I am saying.
