Coral Of The Week - Fungia

Hi Danny
I had a sun coral in there then before I decided I;d had enough of the target feeding each polyp. I used to feed it every other day plus it was just in the right position to catch whatever went in for the fish including flake. It was great at catching it on a dangler at the edge and moving it up with great speed to the centre
I was devestated I killed it and haven;t seen another

heres a pic of it looking a bit fuller. puffs up loads at night but its hard to take a pic.

I have four fungia in a display tank used to store coral. Because it isn’t a display for show, there is very little rock in there but there is a lot of coral. The other day I came home to to find that I could only see three fungia in there. The fungia have always moved about in their little area of the tank. Sometimes I’d find them half up on a rock or half under. I have to move them to a better place sometimes. With this in mind, I began searching around for it in its area. There is a rock nearby that some damsel fish have been digging under; so I checked under and around it. There is also an up-side-down plastic container I have some corals setting on just behind the fungia area, so I looked around that—still nothing. I even did a water change and gravel vacuum but didn’t see anything during that. Sometimes corals have a way of disappearing at night. I just figured that’s what happened. Oh well, a coral was lost of the mysteries of the night—or so I thought. This morning, I spotted my missing fungia about 12 inches away from where it was placed and had been sitting for months. It was behind that cookie platter in the center of the tank with the polyps on it, so I couldn’t see him from the front of the tank. What is crazy is, it had to climb over a bunch of coral covered rocks to get to the new spot. There is no clear path to get there from where it was. I wonder if it ate any of the corals on the way. One time a mushroom brook free and was must have been tumbling in the current. I found it half in and half out of one of these fungia’s mouths.
