Hi all
Well we have got a fair few babbies flying around our Livebearing tank
We were up to 2am the other day as I had just bought a Salafin Molly (I thought she was preggers in the shop) She gave birth on her first night in her new tank!!)Along with the Guppies and we think the Platy so we had fry going all over the shot and suprisingly the Male Guppys didnt do anything The Fry were swimming all around the males and they didnt move !! .
I used this Pregnancy explosion as an excuse to get another big tank :good: !!! our 10th tank so far!
we already have a trigon 190 and a 140 litre tank but another 120 will be ok ;)
Anyway got the tank today another juwel one its not a bow front but its got angled front panels9cant find it on the net)
anyway
ive always loved the look of coral gravel.I actually have it in the Trigon already but just started reading about it .
I am a little worried it could harm our fish ,Ive read it can raise calcium levels but not read it can not be used for tropical fish.We are after some advise really as we dont want to harm our fish
The Trigons had the gravel in for around 4 weeks and all fish are happy (fish in trigon are Mollys Guppys Swordtails Cory albino and bronze and a feather fin syno)
I love the look of the gravel but dont want to harm our fish
Any thoughts or advise..

Thanks
Antony & Fiona

The corys would be the ones most likely to have problems. They really need a fine substrate or at least one with gravel with more rounded edges. The sharp edges of most gravel will damage their barbels and make it difficult for them to find food, eventually causing problems. I would think the mollys in particular would be fine with it as they prefer a higher pH and brackish water (that's not to say that the coral gravel creates a brackish tank).

Hi there thanks for the reply.

The Cory seem rather happy with it ,i went and took a look at it and the Coral gravel and the stuff i have is 99% similar in shape to the normal gravel you get.The Cory seem happy digging into it etc.
I will keep an eye on them though.
thanks

Antony
