Hi all !!

Just to let u know now ive got my 2 yellow banded maroon clowns and their anemone, cleaner wrasse and while im writing this im acclimatising my newest addition my coral beauty-its gorgeous!!

Anyone on here got one?

HI Lee

  If I am right isint your tank very young - IMO far to young for an Anemone - this is not an Animal that is suitable for young Reef Tanks or peeps new to Marine keeping, I am gonna say it & you will not like it but IMO & I know a couple of other member who will say the same " I would take it back to the LFS'

Sorry to put a downer on things but Nems are sensative & delicate species & defo not recommended in this instance

Del

:( :(

PS : How much Lr Rock did you end up adding Lee

I 2nd chacs comments. A better optiom would have been a sarcophyton leather for the clwons as this is far less demanding.

Good news on the coral beauty though

I have had a Coral Beauty for just over 1 year now & she has been no problem what so ever with Corals or other fish

Saying that I know another reefer with a CB & it is a devil - It nips his Corals & hassles some os the other fish in the tank

It alwasy comes down to the fish's personalities but, if I am right CB are concidered to be Ref Safe & generally peacefull

What type of Nem is it you added BTW

Dont think it is a Malu

But it is defo a BTA of some sort

Is it feeding OK & how close to your lights.

I do stand by my original statement that your tank is way to young for a Nem Mate

Yes it seems to be feeding the clowns feed it and it took a lancefish about 2 days ago,its due another i think.

Its positioned itself just below the centre of the tank,im trying to coax it out without handling it as well as i know it wont do it any good at all,

Im struggling to identify it now!!

Shall i take some more pics and will any other information about it help?

Mikk

hmm you deffo need more light in there or maybe its just a bad picture but if you have a new reef system setup i wouldnt bother untill ur tanks at least 6 to 9 months old and can support it well enough

just my 2 cents

L200 i sure hope you don't fall flat on your face, you seem to be completly ignoring the advie handed to you TWICE by Chac. Are you impatient or simply ignorant?

Anenomes don't do well in knew tanks, and will simply turn to soup if you put them in too early, possibly even killing your livestock in the process.

Don't stock your tank too fast, even if your water params are testing really well.

Just listen to the advice given by others and don't ignore it! I don't claim to be an expert reefkeeper, but i sure know when people are going about things the wrong way....

Ben

I know the others may seem a little harsh here but anenomes are a real no no for new tanks.. There is great debate together we should keep them at all to be honest. :*)

Ok well you have it now and you are here asking the right questions. The alternatives.. take it back ot hte lfs and allow it to possible die in a person tank with less care for hte system or try and change around a bad move into a healthly specimen....

I think that if you decide to keep it then monitor it closely and at the first signs of deterioration then get rid of it. Good lighting and prestine water conditions are needed but i think by know you already know this. Keep it out of hte way of powerheads as these kill as many anenomes as poor water quality.

For what its worth, i think it could be a malu. Malus tend to go brown when they are settled in. Unhealthly malus are white and are seen in many shops. This is a sign of stress and not their natural colours. A brown malu with coloured tips is its normal colour, (much to the dissapointment of the owners as they usually want it to remain white).

The only larger (as in non-cleanup crew) invertebrates Ive ever had die is two LT anemones.....
I firmly believe that the tank should be fully cycled in order to support one.

Im hoping to get some more additions for my clean up crew-just my LFS is not getting any in at the moment. Its in the pipeline dont worry!

Regarding the Coral beauty-What does their diet consist of?

I thought they would take frozen live food, but doesnt seem interested,It seems to spend most of its day after algae and picking at the rock...

Can someone just confirm whether its a carnivore, herbivore or omnivore?
