Copper And Live Rock

Is it ever ok to convert a lifeless tank to a live rock format after using a copper treatment for ick?

Personally in any LR-based marine tank i wouldnt use copper based treatments. I would either invest in a UV unit or use either something like concentrated garlic which Kent sell as "Garlic Extreme" and is mixed with food, or something like Paragon which is a oxygen based treatment from Waterlife which is also effective at killing parasites without the use of copper.
