Cooper And Mynervas Babies

I can't see any colour or shine yet, but it's quite hard to tell as the water is tea coloured from the blackwater and ive only got a desk lamp for lighting and it's not the best lighting in the world! My husband is using my grow out tank at the mo for his endler fry so im not very happy, ive told him he's got to get them out of there soon!!!!

I don't know what's up with cooper, surely he can't still be sulking over the babies?? He just keeps either laying on the bottom or floating at the top of the water staring blankly. He still swims now and then but just seems really down, i've changed his tank around, water is fine, he's gone off his food today but has outward signs of disease. I just hope he perks up soon, it's making me unhappy seeing him like this x

If you feed pellets you could try soaking them first in some garlic juice. This is supposed to help boost their immune system.

Spawning does really take it out of them and some males will get depressed after being removed from the babies.

Awww, poor guy. Seperated from his kids. Maybe he's just bored because he spent all his time caring for babies.

Perhaps you could sit him where he sees other males or better yet a female! King Henry was a little listless but I stuck him in the divided tank with his flaring buddy White Beauty and has completely gotten out of his slump. Also a little live food seemed to help him too! :shifty:

Hope he feels better!

Well he seems to be better this morning, he seems a lot more interested in his new decor! Thanks for the advice. He has live bloodworm a couple times a week and pellets everyday, i'll keep the garlic juice in mind! He does live in a divided tank but you can't see through the dividers, i may swap him with albert though cause the end section is next to the girls tank so he can have a little show off to them. Well as for the babies i had a count up last night and there appears to only be 7 left but some have taken to hiding in the heater sfaety casing so they could be in there. I'll try and get some shots of them later, they're starting to get a pale shine to their bodies and one looks like it is starting to get a very pale black line on its body! Thanks again everyone x

Sounds like those lady fish might help him perk up a bit! Hope he makes a full recovery!

Good to hear the babies are getting some color to them! I hope you have more and they are just playing hide-and-seek with you! :D

Finally one of the babies has decided it quite likes the camera and did some posing! :D Here we go:

They are swimming around so fast now, it's really hard to get any pictures of the others, as soon as they see the camera they're off x

I still don't see them! It is a blank square that says "This image or video has been moved or deleted"...

ok now it should all be sorted, it was a broken link so have reloaded the pics, sorry emelee, hope they're worth the wait x

Yah! It is such a cutie!! I love the head-on shot, that little rounded belly!! What great pictures you took!

It was worth the wait! ;)

Thanks lilfishie and emelee, believe it or not that was taken on a 8mp camera without a magnifying glass! He just swam to the front of the tank and sat there looking cute
