does anyone have a cool idae for a 5 gallon tank that has two differet substrates and 2 broad leafed plants with 1 male betta and 3 pygmy cories note: this has not all been set up and i was wondering where i can get anything else cool for the taank

I would add more plants, especially since you're going to add in shrimp. Maybe a nice log of driftwood? That will give your shrimp places to hide.

I agree, a nice driftwood with plants around it would really set the tank off nicely. I had some 5 gallons done with driftwood before, they look nice.

What I'd do is keep the green plants on the dark side of the substrate, move your log over to the sanded side (This way its easier to keep in place)

Try to get a border in there though because mixture WILL occur over time but this way it helps slow the process I'd say either with a long plank piece of wood, or some rocks like I did. Also if you get real drift wood should help out your ph and other things.
Also somehings like to nibble away at wood or it makes them fell safe. Btw depending on the filter you get might wanna look into some floaty plants :D Helps create a natural shade and depending on the plants you have you'll want reduced light, like... Anubias is a low light plant but given bright light it grows algae since its such a slow grower!

Btw lots of fish love the shaded aquariums set up, makes them feel more safe and in my opinion looks adorable when a betta sticks his little head into a colony of frogbit or duckweed.

no ihave no pic or anything it isnt fully set up and wont be for at least5 months also i found a heart shaped little rock hole thing and i put that there and it will help
