hi everyone, second post regarding my new convicts (different comments)

i brought a pair of breeding convicts..... the shop i buy them off takes on unwanted fish, and he assured me there a breeding pair... there lovely, stick together male considerably larger then the female, though im pretty certain there not that old as the male as no hump at the minute (correct me if im wrong)

well, they started to dig a pit, and pick a area (a cave) but im unsure of what happens when, is there a way of telling when there about ready to spawn??

many thanks

Knowing cons, as long as you have a male and female that don't kill eachother in the breeding process, they'll breed.

Introduced 2 female cons to my male 10 days ago. He's still chasing them both all over the tank, no sign of any pairing. Is he just playing Hard To Get?

Make sure there are plenty of hiding places for the females; caves, clay post, or whatever. I've had males chase females out of the tank, so make sure it is securely covered as well.

Well, I have a HRP pair and I'm gonna breed them again, so aslong as your female can rest some where they should be good. I'm gonna try only one spot to hide and some plants w/ 2 HOB's running and a airpump going this time. Also, I have a Senegal Bichir in there but, he will eat my Otto in the other tank

When I first read the title to this topic I thought... Just leave em they'll breed lol. The Fellow I bought my tank off and learned many things from have convicts that bred like guppies.

From the information I got from him hiding places are a huge need for the convicts. Caves with more than one entrance, rock formations make good places to go in and out of.

Hope things are well good luck! :good:
