Convict And Texas Cross

Hi

I purchased x7 Convict / Texas cross (about 1 inch big), anybody heard of this combination, looks like convicts will breed with any fish, half expect to see a convict / goldfish cross soon

convicts are known to breed with anything lol. i don't know if it would be possible, but pics of these little guys would be nce

Yep a very common cross I have seen them quite a lot, when adult they resemble drab texas cichlids.I'm sure I could dig up a pic if you want to see what they will grow into.

mine are just about 1 inch and 1.5 inch and they definitly look more like Texas than Convicts, so will be interesting the see if they turn out like the pics which just look like slightly different shape bland convicts to me.

when i borrow a digi cam this weekend i will try and take some pics of mine.

i forgot i had this thread going, just posted about my Texas / Convict cross fish in another part of forum (sorry!!!) -take a look as it has some pics, these fish look like neither Texas or Convict though!!!

i have got a full grown male texas/convict. when he's angry his convict stripes come out mean as, and when hes just cruisen around he kinda just goes grey, but in between the stripes are the texas colours. he recently paird with an golden albino convict. to the left is a bad shot off him but i have better ones

actually, convict x texas can come up 2 ways. One way, is that they kind of look like a funny shaped jaguar or they can come up drab like those oreochromis you can get at the supermarket (tilapia!)

i don't have a digi cam atm but will post sum pics asap. my Texas/convict has just breed with my pink convict. alot of people here in new Zealand are against the idea of hybrid species. should b interesting i hope. id like to try and pair him up with sum thing like a jag which i also have a female of. i just fed them ox heart for 2-3 days then there were eggs this morning. first time breeding ive had fish for ages but never breed til now. he's gone nuts i tried to feed them by taken the lid off and he jumped out snapping at me. lol
