Convict And Common Pleco

i went to my new lfs today and he has a giveaway day once a week and lets you pick out 1 fish from his selection, he had a 3 inch common plec there and i got it, i know how big they get and i have arranged that in 6 months when hes bigger he will be moved into a 300 gallon aquarium.
My question is - my convict keeps hanging around the plec and the plec keep raising his spine (the stabby things) the juvy convict who is a bit over 1 inch tried to take a nab out of him but the convict got poked by his spikes,
Why are the plec and convict having trouble?

Prob just becasue it's a new tank mate, if anything like my common i wouldn't worry.
Also i wouldn't suggest having a common pleco with a clown pleco in a 39g myself either.

i moved the clown into my 20 gallon

300G??? What size is that? It's massive!

convicts are nasty little things and will happily pick on anything much larger than them. Plec should be safe because of the 'armour', but possible the eyes are at risk?

Anyone had that bad experiece?

LOL I know, its super massive, my uncle just got it, he had it custom made.
