phew! got bit of a bargain too, I asked for Fiji LR @ £10 per kg but got the more expensive (cant remember name)£16 per kg at that price, guy got confused and took it from wrong tank, saved £60! no idea what the actual difference is tho except the stuff I got looks a lot nicer! Might persuade missus to take me back tomorrow for some more LR

Fuji is the more expensive, Indonesian usually cheaper. Its cheaper than in Blackpool Maidenhead though.

The other type either began with a K or a N or something, I'll check tomoz, was deffo more expensive than the fiji mind!

LR stands damp in boxes in a wearhouse for upto a week when it's imported. While not ideal due to die-off, 6 hours with no flow in a bag will be fine. Might make for a long cycle, but so long as it diden't totally dry out, it wil still be live

It needs flow, so make sure there is plenty when it goes in

Got another 5kg of LR and a skimmer today Came home to my room proper stinking of the sea lol...I left the lid & condensation flaps off though, so hopefully it wont smell this strong always ??

Not had much chance to look for critters yet, although I've spotted a crab out on the sand just now bought API saltwater master kit too, Just need to get a Phos text kit, tomorrow I'll put the rowa into the canister, right now it just has some rubble in and floss, got a fluval 3+ with floss in running and an empty stringray from a 60lt tank too for some current while I wait for powerheads to arrive!

The skimmer I have is a V2skim 120 nano, its set up properly I think, its full on noisy though, proper grinding sorta bubble sound will it settle? instructions say to let the pump run in over 24-48 hours so I hope it gets flippin quieter!! I'll go do some tests now and report back!

Oh btw, what SG am I looking for?

Oooh also, how do you guys stick ya rocks together? or is it just careful stacking?

Careful stacking for the most part. When that fails, a little bit of milleput, underwater epoxy, superglue gel, or even carbon-fiber rods drilled into the rock and skewered helps

the smell will be from the live rock that was left in the bags, the die off stinks!

Ah yeah true, there's the bags and little bits of rock left in a box, along with some weird looking silvery worm type thing, musta come off the rocks before going into the tank!

Mr grab, although I thought was dead seems to have moved or been munched on overnight so no chance of a pic sorry, I will get some pics up of the tank etc though hope the skimmer quietens down a bit then, it seems to be swinging from wet - dry, collection cup full this morning but was hardly skimming last night! Filled with nice greeny yellow stuff lol!

Not happy with my rock layout as its just kinda plonked in, can't help thinking I need more than this 15kg though! I'll get restacking then, cheers guys

skimmers can take a few weeks to bed down and start working and skimming properly, you will need to adjust the water level till you get a good strong tea colour

well ive rearanged the rocks, looks better nw found my lil crab friend, didnt get a pic tho hes about the size of my thumbnail and his shell looks exactly like the grey rock, the texture too!

I would get the crab out into a container. Take a photo on macro mode and post for ID. Only put him back in one you know it's a good one, not untill. Try get it out as soon as you see it again, they can be a real PITA to find once they are in...
