My guppy tank has been running for a long long long time. (over 4 yrs)
I have had babies, and raised them successfully, sent them packing to friends or stores.
I have always kept my breeding stock clean, as in, I add new fish to keep inbreeding from happening, and remove older fish to retire in a tropical community tank after a few broods.
Recently I brought home 7 new females and 3 new males.
one by one they have been dying off. one every two days or so.
parameters are all normal, (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, even my GH and KH are suitable for guppies.)
they are in a 180L tank (roughly 28 gal)
Planted
malaysian trumpet snails
I can't for the life of me figure out why they would be dying off like this. I have never had this happen before.
Like most livebearer keepers, I've had the mistaken death at the beginning of my fishkeeping hobby years and years ago from toxins during cycling, or from improper water changes. I've even had a tetra or two go the way of white spot, or ich.
This tank has been my pride and joy for years and years. Right now there are only three females in it.
has anyone got any ideas as to why they might be failing?
