i think my betta is constipated. he isnt pooping and his stomach is a little swollen. i didnt feed him last night or this morning because im trying to see if he will digest the food. should i feed him the inner of a pea now or wait a little longer and then feed it to him? thanks

Yep and in future try to feed him a little daphinia/waterflea at least once a week and half a pea every fortnight or so....
This seems to keep all my fish pooing happily including my betta

thanks i bought some daphnia and it worked. he back to his old self now can i feed him daphnia more than one a week?!

Yeah, should be, this'd be my ideal regime, or is when i can get to the LFS...
I feed all flake 4 days a week, (although i use two different flake foods) maybe with a little freeze dried daphinia....
Live foods 2 days a week, mainly daphnia, a little brine shrimp, but blood worm only occasionaly
1 fast day a week, unless there is a reason such as stress or illness to be extra careful with them, on fast day i feed a little bit of pea and thats all...
I've had no health or constipation problems, sorry my fish have no health or constipation problems  you'll find your own feeding regime but bare in mind that its easy to overfeed and an all flake diet might eventually be bad for your fish....
Lots of variety basically....
